These are international goals established by the World Health Organization for patient safety, which Rio Doce Hospital fully complies with, as provided by Law nº 36 of July 25, 2013, which established actions for patient safety in health services, and Ministerial Ordinance nº 529/2013, which created the National Patient Safety Program.
A pioneer in the North of Espírito Santo, the High Complexity Assistance Unit – Unacon at Rio Doce Hospital is composed of a multidisciplinary team formed by clinical and surgical oncology, hematologist, pharmacists, nutritionist, social workers and nurses, and has the structure to assist, accompany and treat cancer patients.
Since its inauguration in March 2012, the Unacon at Rio Doce Hospital has become a reference for patients undergoing cancer treatment, not only in Linhares, but throughout the northern region of Espírito Santo, and also for some municipalities in neighboring states such as Bahia and Minas Gerais.

The Hospital Infection Control Commission, according to the Ministry of Health Ordinance, which carries out activities of epidemiological and microbiological surveillance, investigations and outbreak control, monitoring the use of antimicrobials, it’s also responsible for the implementation of precautionary measures and evaluation of the hospital infection control program (PCIH). The PCIH is a set of annual actions that undergoes constant assessment to reduce the incidence and severity of hospital infections.
